INTERNATIONAL MILITARY HISTORY OLYMPIAD 2017

From March 13 to March 17, 2017, the III-rd Army was held at the Military Training and Scientific Center of the Air Force of the Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Yu.A. Gagarin (Voronezh) International Olympiad of cadets of educational organizations of higher education in military history dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

For the third year in a row, the students of the Military Training Center at the Southern Federal University took an active part in this Olympiad. Command structure:

1. Sviridov Aleksey Sergeevich - training platoon I-114 (3 year, IFZhiMKK SFU, 3 year, group FZhso 3-23) - team captain;
2. Sukhoveev Alexander Petrovich - training platoon S-414 (3 year, ICT & IS ITA SFU, group Ktso 3-2);
3.   Momotov Dmitry Ivanovich, training platoon P-115 (IS&R SFU, 2 year, group RSLO 2-1);
4.   Shishkin Alexander Vasilievich, training platoon P-115 (ISiR SFU, 2 year, group RSLO 2-1).

Major Bessarabov Alexander Vasilievich, a teacher of military history at the UFU at the Southern Federal University, led the team.

The Olympics was held under the motto: "You know the story - you love the country." The Olympiad was held in three rounds - two nominations of competitive assignments in each round, and also three separate nominations were held: “Homework”, “Military-historical battle” and “Captains competition”.

This year, 54 teams from military and civilian universities of Russia and the CIS countries competed in knowledge of military history at the International Olympiad of cadets.

Teams of non-military higher educational institutions providing training for the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as well as training for the Ministry of Emergencies, the Federal Penitentiary Service and the Federal Protective Service, participated in the pan-army stage   Olympiads and were presented by 13 universities.

The UVC team at SFU took the 3rd place out of 54 teams in the nomination of the homework Olympiad. This nomination provided for the creation of a documentary military-historical short film. The film of the UVC team at SFU “Crimean War. The Defense of Taganrog of 1855 ”was second only to the films of the teams of MSTU named after N.E. Bauman (1st place) and the Military Training and Scientific Center of the Ground Forces "Combined Arms Academy of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation" (branch, Kazan) (2nd place). For this achievement, the UVC team at SFU was awarded a separate diploma and a valuable gift - Samsung LCD TV.

The documentary military-historical film of the UVC team at SFU was sent to all military and civilian universities of the Russian Federation and the CIS countries that took part in this Olympiad, as one of the three best films of the entire Olympiad. In terms of total points, the film of the UVC team at SFU exceeded the rating of films of all teams of the international stage of the Olympiad.

Each student of the UVC team at SFU was awarded a diploma for 3rd place in the nomination “Homework” and for active participation in the Olympiad.

Among the teams of non-military universities, the UVC team at SFedU took 4th place, losing only to the universities of Moscow (MAI, Higher School of Economics and MSTU named after N.E.Bauman).

In the nomination “Captain's Competition” - the captain of the UVC team at SFedU took 8th place out of 44 and was the only captain of the team from non-military universities that entered the top ten.

The State Secretary - Deputy Minister of Defense Army General Nikolai Pankov, Commander-in-Chief of the Aerospace Forces Hero of Russia Colonel-General Viktor Bondarev, Head of the Main Directorate of Personnel of the RF Armed Forces Colonel-General Viktor Goremykin, Chairman of the Defense Committee took part in the awarding ceremony and Security Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Viktor Ozerov, Governor of the Voronezh Region Alexei Gordeev, as well as senior and senior officers of the Western Military District, Secretariat of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the CIS member states and the Russian Air Force Academy.

From the board of the International Space Station, the Russian cosmonauts greeted the participants in the Olympiad.

I congratulate you on the opening of the III International Olympiad of cadets of military educational organizations of higher education.

The best cadets of military universities of the CIS member states and students of Russian higher educational institutions will demonstrate brilliant knowledge, erudition and abilities in the field of mathematics, computer science, military history, foreign languages. Along with this, competitions in military professional training will take place, during which participants will have to show army training and the will to win.

This year the Olympiad is dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the formation of the Council of Defense Ministers of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States. This is a reliable tool for enhancing international trust and developing friendly ties, exchanging scientific and educational experience.

The right to participate in competitions of such a high level is already a victory won by years of intense study and training. Each of you deserves respect and the highest ratings. Nevertheless, the Olympiad is always a competition in which the strongest will win.

I am sure that you will pass the upcoming tests with honor, test the strength of character and make new friends.

  Within the framework of international military cooperation in the field of military education, cadets of educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan will take part for the first time at the final stage of the International Olympiad of cadets of educational institutions of higher education.

The competition is held in order to improve the quality of training of military personnel, their professional motivation, the formation and disclosure of scientific and creative abilities, professional development of the teaching staff, as well as the development of teaching methods, creating an atmosphere of competitiveness and healthy competition between higher military educational institutions.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Uzbekistan, the first stage of the Olympiad was held in higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense among cadets, whose winners took part in the next stage among the teams of military schools.

The winners in both stages received permits for participation in the third (final) stage of the International Olympiad among the teams of higher military educational institutions of the CIS.

In 2017, 176 cadets took part in the competition, consisting of 44 teams from military educational institutions of higher education of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, scientific companies, military training centers and military departments, as well as military universities of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States - Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan , Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan.

Last year, representatives of Uzbekistan took part in the International Olympiad as observers. And already this year they will participate as a full member. 26 cadets of higher military educational institutions of the Ministry of Defense will represent Uzbekistan in this competition.

So, cadets of Uzbekistan will take part in the following disciplines:
foreign language cadets of the Jizzakh Higher Military Aviation School - March 26-30 at the Military Sports Lyceum (Yerevan, Armenia);

in mathematics, cadets of the Chirchik Higher Tank Command and Engineering School - April 2-6 at the Military Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications (Almaty, Kazakhstan);

in computer science, students of the Special Faculty of the Al Khorazmiy Tashkent University of Information Technologies - April 16-20 at the Military Academy of Logistics (St. Petersburg, Russia);

on military history cadets of the Chirchik Higher Tank Command and Engineering School - April 23-27 at the Military Academy of the Republic of Belarus (Minsk, Belarus);

in military training cadets of the Chirchik Higher Tank Command and Engineering School - May 14-19 at the Moscow Higher Combined Arms Command School (Moscow, Russia).

It should be noted that the main goal of the International Cadet Olympiad is to help strengthen friendship between the armies of the countries participating in the CIS.

The international olympiad of cadets of educational organizations of higher education is held in accordance with the Regulation on the International olympiad of cadets of educational organizations of higher education, approved by the decision of the Council of Ministers of Defense of the Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States of November 30, 2016, and other relevant regulations.

The III International Olympiad of cadets of educational institutions of higher education in military history was held for the first time under the motto: “You know history, love the country.” 10 teams from the CIS countries took part in the Olympics.

A tour was conducted for the teams in the center of military-patriotic education “Museum-Diorama” of the city of Voronezh.

Within the framework of the Olympiad, a scientific and practical seminar for the team leaders "Features of teaching the discipline" Military History "and the Olympiad on military history in universities of the Russian Defense Ministry was held." Also, an acquaintance with the educational material, sports and cultural-historical base of the Military Training and Scientific Center of the Air Force “Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Yu.A. Gagarin "(Voronezh).

The team of the Military Institute of the Air Defense Forces, consisting of: team leader - Major Yeskibaev Erbol Toktamysovich, team captain - junior sergeant Karzhaubaev Adilet Askarula, participants - cadet Baimenov Temirlan Zhuldasovich, cadet Sabdybai Kurmet Aueelbekuly, cadet Aydarula Miras took the 4th place cadet.

March 17 in the cultural and historical center of Voronezh, in the building of the Opera and Ballet Theater, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners and prize-winners of the stages of the III International Olympiad of cadets of educational organizations of higher education (on military history), held on the basis of the Military Training and Scientific Center of the Air Force " Air Force Academy named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky and Yu.A. Gagarin "(Voronezh).

The team of the Military Institute of the Air Defense Forces took 3rd place in the competition "Homework", the team is awarded for coherence in the competition "Military Historical Battle".

In the “Captain's Competition”, Junior Sergeant Karzhaubaev Adilet Ascarula is awarded a diploma for 3rd place and a valuable gift.

For persistence in solving competitive tasks, a cadet of Baimenov Temirlan Zhuldasovich is awarded with a diploma and a valuable gift.
